Comprehensive Clinical Assessment:
The comprehensive clinical assessment is a functional face-to-face evaluation to determine whether treatment is appropriate, the nature and severity of behavioral and emotional difficulties, and the level of service needed. Through our active engagement, we draw out clients' personal strengths and the issues that concern them. This assessment also gives the basis for the development of an initial Person Centered Plan. 
We deliver clinical assessment in English or Spanish to children starting at 5 years old, adolescents, and adults. 


Family Therapy:
​Family Therapy assists families in moving through challenging life cycle processes. It is for there to be difficult stages and growth periods for family members. Making a commitment to family counseling is an important step towards a more rewarding and successful family life.
Family therapies are available for families with children, new parents, single parents, and those that are assembled. Family issues can include complex matters such as infertility, adoption, miscarriage, chronic illness, mental health issues, bereavement, infidelity, and remarriage. They can also include problems related to career issues, sex role divisions, financial concerns, and parenting skills. Sometimes, parents are rearing children with complex mental health challenges or physical and emotional disabilities. And most sadly, many families deal with the grief and loss related to premature deaths and long-term illnesses.
Additionally, as people move out of their own ethnic and racial communities into a more multicultural world, many are involved in interracial, interethnic, or interreligious marriages and partnerships. These situations can create internal issues due to different values and backgrounds, and differences regarding parenting practices.

Individual Psychotherapy:
​For  children starting at 5 year-old, teens and adults.Individual therapy is an opportunity to meet with a clinical therapist one-on-one within a caring, safe, and confidential environment to examine issues during a psychotherapeutic session. We maintain a client-centered approach and help a client explore and contemplate feelings and issues in a cooperative manner and work towards achieving the goals established in the client’s treatment plan. Sometimes, this could mean attaining new patterns of thinking, learning new skills, changing behaviors, or shifting the way emotion  are expressed. Clients also may receive homework to practice some of the things they are learning outside of the therapy sessions.
In working with children, we often use therapies that allow children to express themselves non-verbally, such as play therapy. Parents are usually part of the therapy sessions with children. We also offer treatments designed to address parenting skills.

Group Therapy:
Depending on the problem, group therapy can be an ideal choice for addressing concerns and making positive changes. Regularly, clients participate in group therapy after attending individual sessions. Our groups offer a unique space for healing and sharing with others who are in similar situations, a mirroring of experiences that may not be possible in individual therapy. ​

We offer face-to-face sessions as well as phone, and online sessions. We offer online sessions as an option when limitations of time, mobility and location prevent clients from visiting our office. Phone and online therapy services at Holistic Growth maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards of all our collaborative, strength-based counseling services.
​Over the phone or online sessions for life coaching or alternative and complementary therapies are available for clients from any locations. Mental health counseling is limited to North Carolina residents only.

Do I really need therapy? I usually manage my own problems. ​
Everybody faces challenging circumstances in life and although clients may have effectively found their way through difficulties in the past, seeking counseling allows them to work in collaboration with the therapist while maintaining control of their life. So, looking for extra support when needed it may mean having enough self-awareness to recognize the need of a helping hand, which is something to value.
​

Those seeking psychotherapy or other healing modalities are ready to meet the challenges in their lives and work towards making changes. Therapy provides benefits and support by giving the tools necessary to avoid triggers and re-direct damaging patterns. Therapy can also provide encouragement and help with skills to get through challenging situations.
​How can therapy help me?
Deciding to see a therapist is an individual choice. Therapy or other healing modalities are best suited to those who are interested in getting the most out of their lives by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards changes in their lives.

There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing psychological issues or problems with anxiety, or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one’s life such as the loss of a loved one, or the result of a traumatic event.  Our therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for life challenges. They can also offer problem-solving skills, enhanced coping strategies as well as a fresh perspective on difficult problems, or point a client in the direction of a solution.
What is therapy like?
Every therapy session is unique and caters to client’s specific goals. During a first session, the therapist will go over how a counseling session works, discussing confidentiality and its limitations and other important information related to the counseling practice. The therapist will ask certain questions about clients’ live. This information helps to make an initial assessment of the client’s situation. Some of these questions include asking the reasons behind seeking therapy, and the client’s personal history and current circumstances. While the client will receive an initial diagnosis at the end of the first visit, it is more likely that an official diagnosis will take a few more sessions.
​

It is important to understand that getting more results from therapy will result if a client actively participates in the process. The therapist will not “fix” a client’s problems, as the client is the expert regarding his or her life. Therapy is collaboration; the ultimate purpose of therapy is to help clients apply what they learn in these sessions to real life. Therapists can do their jobs more effectively if answering questions openly and honestly. Beyond the work a client does in therapy sessions, the  therapist may suggest some things a client can do outside of therapy to reinforce progress, such as reading an applicable book, journaling on specific topics, observing particular behaviors, or taking action on goals. Here are some things to expect from therapy:

-Compassion, respect and understanding
-A non-judgmental environment
-Viewpoints to comprehend persistent patterns and related feelings
-Effective strategies to make positive changes
-Evidence-based approaches along with practical guidance

What about medication vs. psychotherapy? ​
In some cases, a combination of medication and therapy is the right course of action. Working with a medical doctor can determine what’s best for you. It is well established that the long-term solution to mental and emotional problems and the pain they cause cannot be solved solely by medication. Therapy addresses the cause of distress and the behavior patterns that curb progress. A client can best achieve sustainable growth and a greater sense of wellbeing with an integrative approach to wellness.
Is therapy confidential?
In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and psychotherapist. Confidentiality is both an ethical and professional value that we hold with extremely high regard. We abide by HIPPA and the North Carolina privacy policies as stated in the North Carolina Notice Form (Notice of Licensed Professional Counselors' Policies and Practices to Protect the Privacy of Your Health Information).No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. However, there are some exceptions to the rules mandated by law. Exceptions include:
​

-Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

-If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, the therapist is required to notify the police.
​

-If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may be taken.


 

Complementary and Alternative Therapies

At Holistic Growth, we embrace the concept of Complementary and Alternative Therapies as modalities of healing that consider the whole person - body, mind, spirit, and emotions. As holistic medicine practitioners, we believe the whole person is comprised of interdependent parts, and if one part is not working properly, all other parts will be affected. In this way, if people have imbalances (physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual) in their lives, they can negatively affect their overall health. Our complementary and alternative treatments help individuals with or without disabilities to establish harmony and functionality in their lives according to their unique circumstances.

​Integrative mental health modalities have helped us more fully appreciate the importance and power of somatic, or body-centered modes of healing. When deep reflection has made a client aware of repressed memories that blocks progress, yoga or energy healing approaches can open the door to inner transformation, and enhance the healing process.  Since everything is made up of patterns of energy, working directly with energy influences the physical, mental and emotional, as well as the spiritual level. Energy healing is thus by nature “holistic”.

Reiki Healing
​Reiki is a natural, complementary, and safe method of energy healing for stress reduction and relaxation that also accelerates healing. Reiki works on the body, emotions, mind, and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and wellbeing. It has been effective in reducing the suffering associated with virtually every known illness. Reiki also works with other medical and therapeutic intervention to relieve side effects and promote recovery. While

Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing a client must believe to benefit from Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether someone believes in it or not. Because Reiki comes from higher intelligence/universal energy, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with their spirituality.


​At Holistic Growth, clients receive Reiki from a Certified Usui Reiki practitioner at the Master level in individual sessions and also it can be sent long distance as physical boundaries do not limit energy.

Enhancing Reiki with Aromatherapy
The practice of using natural oils extracted from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, rind and seeds is called Aromatherapy and it is used to treat physical, psychological and energetic imbalances. The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed and scientifically proven to stimulate brain function. Essential oils are used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increasing cognitive function. Aromatherapy helps put clients in a more receptive state before the Reiki session.
 
At Holistic Growth, we provide the combination of Reiki & Aromatherapy to amplify the beneficial effect of each of these treatments generating a greater sense of well-being by increasing relaxation, easing physical discomfort, and improving immunity to ailments.

Archangelic Light Therapy
​Archangelic Light is a gentle, high-vibration energy work that opens a connection with the Archangels and the Angelic realm guided by a Certified Archangelic Light Practitioner.  In the session, the recipient establishes the intention of what is to be gained and accomplished. This modality of alternative therapy releases emotional barriers and rebalances the energy field at the core level, reducing stress and fear, increasing positive attitude, and enhancing mental clarity.

Yoga for Emotional and Mental Harmony
​Yoga is a comprehensive system of techniques and awareness that promote wellbeing. Yoga is a philosophical and pragmatic array of methods that work on the physical, mental, and emotional self and may enhance the spiritual experience. Yoga practice is personal and different for each practitioner and there are a wide variety of approaches to its practice. 

At Holistic Growth, we offer individual and group yoga sessions designed to promote emotional and mental harmony. Holistic Growth combines yoga with traditional therapy tools to offer a more holistic mind, body, and spirit approach to emotional imbalances.
Holistic Growth also offers yoga classes and workshop for children.
Guided Meditation
​At Holistic Growth, meditation is one of the cornerstone interventions in our treatments as having emotional imbalances results in stress and its adverse effects. Any mental health problem tends to decrease performance, harm relationships, and create physical wear and tear. In short, it curtails the enjoyment of life. Furthermore, these problems tend to build up in a person’s system over the course of a lifetime. 
Extensive research has found that meditation reduces stress and anxiety, resulting in more inner peace, creativity, health, and happiness. Because each individual is different, the balancing effects of meditation may bring different benefits for different people, such as fewer headaches, improved sleep, increased energy, better relationships, or improved ability to handle stressful situations. 
We offer different, straightforward, and effective meditation techniques in group or individual sessions, which allow the mind to settle and connect with our inner state of awareness. We also give ongoing seminars, demonstrating meditation techniques for beginners as well as experienced clients.
Breathing Techniques to Manage Stress and Anxiety
Breathing is a powerful tool to manage our moods and stress. Practicing regular, mindful breathing can be soothing and energizing and can help with stress-related health problems ranging from panic attacks to anxiety and digestive disorders.
At Holistic Growth, we provide one-on-one and group training where our clients can learn simple and effective breathing techniques to balance emotions and reduce stress. We also offer special classes and workshops for breathing techniques in children.  ​
Intuitive Spiritual Healing
Intuitive Spiritual healing is a complementary therapy in which the healing power of prayers, visualizations, affirmations and meditation are applied to overcome life’s challenges. These techniques strengthen the client’s innate healing ability. This system is not limited to any religion or spiritual background in particular, but rather honors the client’s spiritual belief system.

Life Coaching

In coaching, the client and coach address specific personal circumtances by examining what is going on right now and by ascertaining and choosing a course of action to make positive life changes according to the client's goals. In coaching, there is no treatment or diagnosis.
If a client is searching for personal growth or professional development and is ready to embrace the possibility of actualization, we help finding the resources needed to achieve it. Consequently, a client’s life will change for the better, and so too will the lives connected to the client.
